Safety on point | The first generation of AC75s could fly above the water at a velocity in excess of 90 km/h; the new generation may even break the magic 100 km/h barrier. At that speed anything -- however slight -- that goes wrong could develop into a dangerous situation in milliseconds.

Nevertheless, the class has an excellent safety record, a lot of which can be put down to careful design, engineering, construction, and preparation. But if something ever does go terribly wrong, all the Safety Diver’s and on water paramedic's skills and training will be called on.

The role isn’t just about being a calm, experienced and skilled emergency responder -- though the Safety crew must be all of those things. In addition, the Safety Diver and Paramedic must also prepare the sailing crew for every eventuality. Training the crew so that they can react quickly and effectively in any situation is an essential part of the job.
